About Japanese Dictionary

JapaneseDictionary.org is a great place to learn Japanese by expanding your vocabulary. Our Japanese dictionary was created by native speakers who use Japanese on a daily basis, so you can be sure the translations found on this website are accurate. We currently have entries for over 25,000 Japanese words, and each entry is accompanied by the English translation, the type of word, the hiragana, katakana, or kanji for the word, and the pronunciation (Romanization) of the Japanese word. You will even find an example sentence or phrase listed on each word entry to help you understand how the word is used.

Our goal at JapaneseDictionary.org is to offer our users the best Japanese dictionary possible! Our dictionary is truly unique, and not only because of our accuracy! The structure of our dictionary is what really stands out. Some Japanese words only have a hiragana reading, some only have a katakana reading, and others can have both a hiragana and kanji reading. When applicable, kanji is always displayed on the word page along with the hiragana. If a word only has hiragana, you will see the hiragana listed twice for that word (once in the “hiragana” column and once in the “Japanese” column). Since we list both the hiragana and kanji (if the word has a kanji translation) on each word entry, you will never have to go searching for a kanji dictionary or transliteration service again. By providing both the kanji and the hiragana, this dictionary is ideal for Japanese students of all levels. Beginner students will not have a hard time using this dictionary, and advanced students will appreciate the kanji entries that help them build their kanji vocabulary. Our dictionary also features three methods of searching: you can enter an English word, a Japanese word, or the romaji (pronunciation) for a Japanese word. This is extremely helpful for beginners who cannot yet read hiragana or kanji! This function is also useful for students who do not have Japanese keyboards installed on their computers.

Our website is also very user-friendly and easy to navigate. The layout is clean and organized to optimize loading times, so this dictionary should be suitable for all types of internet connections. To navigate the dictionary, simply enter the word you want to get the Japanese or English for into the search bar. You can also click on a letter at the top of the page to get a list of all of the English words in our dictionary that begin with that letter. This is a wonderful way to build your Japanese vocabulary. If an English word has multiple Japanese translations, you will be able to view these during your search. This function guarantees you will have access to those difficult to translate words and be able to choose the best Japanese word for your situation. Sometimes you may run across links that say “more translations.” Click on these links for other options that might better suit your translation needs!

Our website also has a page where our users can get in contact with us. Click on the “Contact Us” link at the top of the page to send us your message!
